If I ran a company.

If I ran a company like Dan Snyder I mean Dave Schaeffer at Cogent I would put out a blog post every day of what I was thinking and what objectives we are working on for the company.  For example as a network engineer I love thinking about the fiber optic network and the merging of the Sprint network and the lighting up of the data centers such as the one in Elkridge, Maryland.  I need to look and see what they are calling that facility.  It's not a CNDC Carrier Neutral Data Center and it's not a MTOB Multi-Tenant Office Building, but I need to check and see what they are calling it.  I think the name CO Central Office has gone the way of the Dodo bird but call it whatever you want, what it does and what it's good for is what matters.  Call it MAE East or MAE West.  There's a lot of Provider Edge routers sitting in there and working twenty-four seven three-sixty-five.

And that's why the NOC Network Operating Center needs to be sitting on ready twenty-four seven three-sixty-five.  And that's why I have a job that pays me good money every other Friday.  Tomorrow I go in and sit on ready through the weekend so the other engineers can have some time off and then I work on my goo-roo watch blog during the week.  Dave Schaeffer is definitely a goo-roo and he definitely has the money making plan for me which is to keep doing the same job I have been doing for forty years but just do it for his company now and he will make sure I keep making money.  He must be making money too and he also has accumulated enough money over his seventy-three years of living to not ever have to work again if he didn't want to but he's like me and he likes to work.

So that is my number one business plan at the moment.  Same as it has been for the last forty years.  Get in to work and do the job.  Push out the paychecks.  But just now getting into the pace of this lastest and last chapter of my life.  Sixty years of age, both parents in the ground, estate settled, new job, new car, home paid for in Reston, Virginia, set for life and cruising towards the crucifiction.

Dave Schaeffer is not a preacher.  If Rodney Howard-Browne were the leader of this company then we would be getting a much different message every day.  Mr. Schaeffer has work to get done.  He has plans that he needs executed.  So does Rodney Howard-Browne.  Two different organizations.  Two different leaders.  Two different perspectives.  Obviously Rodney Howard-Browne pays property taxes or perhaps not.  Is a church also exempt from property taxes?  They should be, as should we all be.  This does not concern Dave Schaeffer.  He is in the secular world or at least he runs his company as a secular company.  No religion other than the good old corporate religion of every man working for a good report from his boss and working to meet the goals of the company and get his paycheck and getting back to his family and there he may go to church on Sunday or he may get drunk down at the bar while watching the Super Bowl.

I would like to have some profitable operation going on and I do.  It's called go to work and work the job and make the boss happy and get the work done that needs to be done in my case sitting on ready and jumping on any tickets or NCR's that need to be jumped on.  Answering any phone call or chat from any customer and making sure all of the customers are happy.  Jumping on any scheduled event bridge call zoom call basically having fun working in a network operating center on the late night weekend nights Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday morning, and now I got to start coming in on Monday's too because I guess I'm running in the red on my PTO time.

So my plan is the Dave Ramsey plan.  The Robert E. Lee masterful defensive position plan.  To not lose everything overnight gambling in Las Vegas but to sit on my 401k, savings, and mutual funds while enjoying living in my nice home that is paid for and has no mortgage other than property taxes and HOA fees which will never end.  As long as the paycheck is coming in I hav a good strong positive cash flow and every extra penny goes into the bank for grandma's rainy day fund.  We got up before sun up, to get the work done up.
