Sold ten hours.

Sold ten hours of my time to the company yesterday.  Contracted to sell ten more today.  Then ten on Sunday and another ten on Monday and I'm looking at a new month and another paycheck come Friday.  Thoreau said most men live lives of quiet desperation.  I like living a quiet life of desperation.  It suits me just fine.  If I can write out more checks to preachers who keep preachin' and the good Lord forgives me of my sins then a quiet life of desperation is just fine with me.

Webster's 1828.

1. A despairing; a giving up of hope; as desperation of success.

2. Hopelessness; despair; as, the men were in a state of desperation Hence,

3. Fury; rage; disregard of safety or danger; as, the men fought with desperation; they were urged to desperation

Giving up hope would mean losing your faith in God.  I hope that never happens to me.  I pray to God that I always have faith in Him.

I would say the greatest thing about Christianity is the joy and the peace of mind that come with knowing this life is but a short while and once we are gone from this life we go to a beautiful eternity, if we keep our faith and always believe in God.  I think Mr. Thoreau may have not had faith in God.  He hasn't mentioned His name one time yet in his great book of classic American literature.  I think this shows a sharp contrast between Henry David Thoreau and John Bunyan quite obviously.  I think Pilgrim's would rank much higher in the works of the greats than Walden Pond.

So again this morning before heading off to work we are facing the cash flow conundrum like probably a great majority of men are this morning.  And this is a great thing.  Praise God for it.

I have been blessed to have a good job.  Cash flow problem solved.  And I have been blessed to have been coached by Dave Ramsey for the last 30 years praise God.  This has gotten me to baby step seven where it says to build wealth and give.  And I am going to write out some more checks to my preachers and hope that I can continue to increase my giving until the day I die when I will leave everything I have to somebody who is still alive here on this earth.

So baby step seven.  Build wealth and give.  My job and paycheck is not only my plan for cash flow it is also my plan to build wealth.  Although today at sixty years of age I find myself with a bit of savings that can also be used to build wealth by passively investing.  Beyond shoveling every penny that comes in into my 401k and mutual funds and house I have little experience in passive investing to build wealth but I am working on that too here at the goo-roo watch blog.

I don't think there is any business man, even the great Nick Fullmer himself, not even the magnificent Matt Furey, who doesn't sit down at take a look at his brokerage accounts from time to time along with thinking about them in his head any time they cross his mind in the meantime.  So there is nothing new under the sun.  I am living a blessed life and enjoying every minute of it and thinking about Ramsey Smartvestor Pro type stuff and the Overage Refund Specialist game.

A beautiful day to be alive.  A couple more hours of lounging and coffee and I'm off to see the Wizard.

God bless America.
